Do you have your birthday party or another celebration coming up? In that case, sausage and pepper hoagies are sure to go down well with your guests. Here’s how you can make this meaty snack in order to get the party started.
Ingredients:
- 4 4-ounce Italian sausage links
- 1 sweet onion
- 1 tablespoon harissa paste
- 1 teaspoon sherry vinegar
- 2 tablespoons thinly sliced garlic
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat while you wait. Add the onion and cook for about 4 minutes, until the onions begin to brown. Add peppers and up the heat to medium-high. Cook for a further 10 minutes. Add the garlic, oregano, and salt and cook for another minute.
- Cook the sausage in the oven for 15 minutes.
- Transfer the pepper mixture to a medium bowl. Add the remaining oil to the skillet and insert the sausages. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Flip and cook another 1 to 2 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, harissa, and vinegar.
- Put the buns in the oven and warm for 3 minutes.
- Slice the buns open lengthways and stuff with the pepper mixture, sauce, and sausages.
