Walking up and down the hair and skincare aisles, it is almost impossible to not see the names of oils jumping out, especially argan oil. Argan oil gives skin and hair natural boosts and softens due to its high vitamin E and fatty acid content. You love it. We love it. But what if using it could go beyond a personal benefit? This is the idea behind Kahina Giving Beauty, a company whose products are built around argan oil, fair compensation of the Berber women of Southwest of Morocco who harvest it and the protection and preservation of the argan forest in Morocco.
The company “aims to deliver the highest quality skincare while providing economic independence to those who work to provide [their] raw materials”. The company donates an additional percentage of its revenue to programs that support these women and their families. All of their products are made in the USA with certified natural ingredients and formulations that are also ethically and sustainably sourced.
An added benefit for the environmentally-conscious consumer (and the planet!) is the packaging on Kahina Giving Beauty Products. Its outer packing is made from 100% recycled paper and the bottles are created from a high quality recyclable violet glass that helps preserve products by blocking damaging light rays. A recent product launch in 2017 of Kahina Giving Beauty is their pure Moroccan Rose Water from the Valley of Roses in Morocco.
The rose water is made from 100%, steam-distilled, wild damask roses. In April of the product’s launch, $1 from every product sold was contributed to the High Atlas Foundation, an organization that plants trees and shrubs for nurseries run by communities in rural Morocco. These nurseries play a crucial role in the agricultural development of Morocco and the greater battle with climate change.
