The Homemade Face Mask You Need

Had a crazy week- or let’s face it, a couple of weeks? Maybe you’ve been traveling, spent more than a few hours overtime at the office or study. Maybe you just need to treat yourself to a little TLC. Try a hydrating avocado mask to recharge your skin and give it the benefits of its naturally occurring composition, like poly- and monounsaturated fatty acids, which protect the skin. Monounsaturated fats keep the top layer of your skin moist so it’s soft and healthy looking.

Avocados have polyunsaturated fatty acids, which guard skin against sun damage and protect against symptoms of skin sensitivity and inflammation. The oils in avocado soften the skin and ease the pain of some skin sensitivities, like sunburn. This recipe features avocado, yogurt, and honey to help get rid of dead skin cells and create a glow. Yogurt and milk are great ingredients for calming redness of the skin.

How to make it: mashup ½ ripe avocado, then mix in 1 tsp plain organic yogurt and 1 tsp of honey. Stir until it becomes a paste.

If you want an added moisture boost, drizzle in some olive oil. Wash your face with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat to dry. Apply the mask to your face with your hands or a soft brush. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and use the time to relax- grab a book or listen to some calming music. Rinse the mask off gently with lukewarm water and enjoy the glow!
