Unless your hair is naturally super straight and smooth, the chances are you’ve battled with frizz at one point or another. During the hot and humid summer months, many of us find that halo frizz (the tiny hairs that stick up, creating a ‘halo’ effect) is at its worst. Check out these simple yet effective tips on dealing with this frustrating hair problem.

Prevent Breakage

While the majority of halo frizz is simply caused by hairs growing at different lengths and speeds, sometimes breakage can be a major factor. Avoid breakage by using silk hair ties, protecting your hair with a silk pillowcase or turban when you sleep at night, and by avoiding super tight hairstyles.

Moisturize

A lot of us with curly or wavy hair will understand the importance of making sure that hair is full of moisture. Use leave in conditioning treatments and hair oils to smooth and hydrate your thirsty strands.

Diffuse

While many people prefer air drying their naturally wavy or curly hair, to avoid frizz the best option is often diffusing. This dries the hair faster, reducing the amount of halo frizz, without causing heat damage. If you’re going to diffuse your hair you still need to use a good quality heat protector spray.
