Mornings are a really important time of day. After being asleep for hours, you now have to gently ease yourself into the day and get your mind and body awake and alert. Many of us find this routine hard and often feel quite lethargic. Here are some ideas for healthy habits to include each morning that will help wake you up and get you ready for the day ahead.
Drink Lots of Water First Thing
Leave a bottle of water by your bed, so that once you’ve turned your alarm off you can easily grab it and have a drink. Remember to keep sipping water throughout the morning too to avoid headaches and dehydration.
Get Some Gentle Movement In
Whether this is a gentle stroll around the block, some light yoga, or a brief dance session, this will help wake you up and give you a burst of endorphins to get you off to a great start to the day.
Listen to Some Uplifting Music
Whatever your plans are for the rest of the day, having a quick blast of some fun tunes is a great way to start the day. Playing music while getting ready can also help you remain focused.
Eat a Balanced Breakfast
Even if it’s something super light, it’s a good idea to get into the habit of having something to eat before heading out. This will avoid any blood sugar crashes which will make you feel tired and crave sugary food.
