Fenty Beauty’s wide range of foundation shades has been flying off the shelves. Every girl knows the struggle of finding the foundation perfect match. Read on for tips on how to find that match and other brands like Fenty that cater to many different shades.
Figure Out Your Undertone
Having trouble finding foundations that fit your skin color? Want amazing-looking, clear skin even if your face is surrounded by blemishes? Makeup artist Bob Scott, who works with celebs like Bella Hadid and Chrissy Teigen, reveals the trick to acing your base.
First, he recommends figuring out what undertone your skin has by looking at the veins on the underside of your wrists. If they’re mostly blue or purple, you have cool undertones; if they’re more of a greenish yellow, you have warm undertones; and if your veins look like a mix of green, blue, yellow, and purple, your undertones are neutral.
Pick Two Tones
Once you’ve found your undertone, it becomes much easier to find your formula to match your skin tone. To nail your exact shade, Scott recommends picking two tones – a lighter and darker one – and applying the lighter foundation over the triangular area (shown in an image below) that makes up the center of your face, and see how well the shade disappears into your skin.
“You’ll know it’s too light if it looks chalky,” he adds. “Then, take the deeper shade and mix it with the lighter one, and blend it over the side of your cheek and down onto your neck.” Creating your look this way helps you create a custom look that complements your natural coloring all year, as our skin color tends to change as the year goes on.
Different foundation shades can be found to perfectly match your skin needs, coverage, and skin tone. With the right foundation you can cover any skin problems, diminish imperfections and reveal the flawless, glowing skin of a goddess.
