As much as magazines try to shove the idea that “celebrities are just like us” down our throat, they’re not. They may sometimes do things that we relate too, but last time we checked, we don’t have a private chef, plane, trainer and we definitely don’t go on yachts or live in ginormous mansions. But one way that we can relate to celebrities? Cheap beauty products! I know it’s shocking, but even Kylie Jenner and Zendaya sometimes stop at their local Walgreens/Duane Reade/CVS to pick up their favorite products. While they probably don’t go themselves, it’s the thought that counts. We’re going to highlight some of the cheap beauty products celebrities swear by!
Kylie Jenner:
Maybelline Fit Me! Blush, $4.49: Yep, you read that right. Kylie Jenner, queen of makeup (and everything else), uses a less than $5 blush. Jenner said that this blush in particular is super pigmented and has become one of her daily go-to products.
Ardell Demi Wispies Natural Multipack, $11.99: Jenner admitted to The New York Times that in order to get her iconic Insta-worthy glam, a key component is false lashes. Her go-to fake lashes are the Ardell Natural Wispies, which you can pick up at any drugstore.
Zendaya:
Yes To Tomatoes Clear Skin Acne Fighting Paper Mask, $3.29: contrary to popular belief, celebrities actually do get pimples and they do have acne. In particular, Zendaya struggles with breakouts. She stated on her app and her website that she keeps an emergency set of these sheets with her at all times, to fight her acne. You also can’t beat that price tag!
Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Healing Ointmen, $11.99t: Zendaya told Allure that her smooths lips and feet are due to this staple. She said that she applies Aquaphor on her heels before bed and then moisturizes her lips with the Aquaphor constantly throughout the day. She even uses the Aquaphor as highlighter primer! She refers to this product as “magic.”
Khloe Kardashian:
Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighters, $6.00: Joyce Bonelli, Khloe’s makeup artist, recently shared on Khloe’s app how this celeb gets her iconic glow. Surprise! It’s a $6 highlighter from a drugstore. Bonelli said: “your highlighter should be a shade lighter than your natural skin tone, and bronzer a shade darker.” That’s not a hard pill to swallow when the highlighter is only six bucks.
Olivia Culpo:
Tresemme Repair & Protect 7 Pre-Styling Spray, $4.98: Olivia Culpo used to have gorgeous long locks but she went the bob route and hasn’t looked back. We have her amazing hairstylist, Justine Marjan, to thank for that. Marjan uses this drugstore Tresemme spray to prepare Culpo’s blunt cut.
Chrissy Teigen:
Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes, $4.99: While we know Chrissy Teigen as a mega celebrity who lives to tweet and comment on Instagrams, she’s also a normal girl who uses the same makeup wipes most of us use. She shared that the Clean & Clear makeup wipes are her go-to to get her makeup off!
Ayesha Curry:
Cantu Extra Hold Edge Stay Gel, $3.99: Prior to Curry becoming one of the faces of CoverGirl, she was always using cheap beauty products that got the job done. In an interview with The Cut she stated “I wear a lot of hair extensions because I’m doing a lot of shoots and things like that.. But for me, a good edge control is really important, and then a headscarf at night. So I always keep some Cantu edge control around and I’ll use a toothbrush and smooth down my edges.”
Yara Shahidi:
Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Oil with Coconut & Argan Oil, $15.99: This product Yara Shahidi, the star of Black-ish, swears by. Shahidi said in a recent interview with E! that her first step in a solid skin-care regimen is using the right cleanser. She prefers cleaners that are oil based because she has dry skin. Sometimes she even uses pure Aloe Vera or vitamin E oil.
EcoStyle Professional Styling Gel with Olive Oil, $2.99: This is another cheap product Shahidi loves. She stated that her iconic curls are due to this lightweight gel. She said “EcoStyler is $3 gel that I swear by because it is not always about the most expensive product, but the most efficient.”
