The post What’s the “75 Hard” Challenge & How to Make it Work for You appeared first on simbaly.
]]>The “75 Hard” challenge gained traction on TikTok in the past year or two, but it’s actually been around since 2019. Its founder Andy Frisella described it as a “mental toughness” program, explaining this challenge is less about building muscle and losing weight and more about building mental strength and discipline.
The “75 Hard” challenge comes with five main rules you should follow for 75 days, and start over if you miss a task or skip a day.
1. Pick a diet and stick to it. Choose a diet that fits your goals, and try to avoid alcohol and cheat meals.
2. Drink a gallon of water daily. Try to stay hydrated by drinking water consistently throughout the day.
3. Complete two daily workouts. Try to do two workouts per day, each one lasting at least 45 minutes.
4. Read 10 pages per day of a nonfiction book. Try to read self-development books that will help you learn new things and inspire your personal growth.
5. Take a progress photo every day. Take daily photos to remind you how far you’ve come and inspire you to keep going.
Many people embraced the “75 Hard” challenge with open arms, but it also came under a lot of scrutiny because it’s unsustainable for most beginners. Rules 2 and 3 are the most difficult to follow, but you can always replace a gallon of water with two liters and make your two daily workouts shorter than 45 minutes.

]]>Pilates is not a form of cardio exercise, although it will get your heart pumping nonetheless. The focus of this exercise is more on strength and flexibility and offers intense and effective opportunities to greatly improve upon both of these things.
As well as strength and flexibility, pilates is an excellent way to work on your balance and posture. These concepts can be hard to work on but have so much impact on our bodies on a daily basis, so finding activities such as Pilates in which they are crucial is incredibly beneficial.
Pilates is an amazing choice if you want an exercise that’s great for the body and the mind. Focusing the mind on the movements and breath during pilates helps you tap into a calmer and more present consciousness which can carry into the rest of your day.

]]>Perhaps most importantly, stretching helps prepare your muscles and joints for the physical activity ahead, reducing the risk of strains, sprains, and other injuries. By increasing flexibility and range of motion, you allow your body to move more freely, making it less likely to experience a sudden pull or tear during exercise.
A proper stretching routine can improve your workout performance. When you loosen tight muscles and increase blood flow, you enhance your body’s ability to move efficiently. This means better endurance, strength, and flexibility during your workout.
Lastly, stretching helps reduce muscle tension and stiffness, making your workout more comfortable. By gradually elongating the muscles before exercise, you help them relax and reduce the chances of post-workout soreness. Additionally, stretching helps boost circulation, bringing oxygen to your muscles and flushing out any waste products that may build up during your workout.

]]>One of the things that will make a big difference when it comes to choosing your running shoes is what kind of surface you are running on. Most people are running on the road, in which case you will be fine to head to your nearest sports or sneakers store. However, if you’re looking to do some trail or hill running, you may need to head to a specialist who can provide you with a range of specially designed shoes.
Are you someone who feels comfortable and confident enough to do several tempo runs a week? Or are you just starting out on your running journey, and want to take it slow and steady? The kind of running, including the pace and length, that you’re planning on doing will determine what kind of shoe is right for you. Longer, faster runs will require the lightest shoes possible, whereas beginners need to prioritize supportive, comfortable shoes that they can feel confident in.
If your feet are fairly standard in terms of size and width, and you have neither a particularly arched nor flat instep, then you should be fine to shop in standard sneaker stores. However, if your arches are notably high or flat, it’s worth seeking out specialist advice on how to find the right running shoes for you.

]]>Bouldering is a form of climbing done without ropes. It will work your forearms, biceps and triceps, shoulders, and back as you scale up walls or boulders. Bouldering is also great for developing your grip strength, and this can benefit your overall workout techniques as greater grip strength will mean that you can safely handle higher weights in the gym.
There are plenty of pull-up bars available that can safely and temporarily hook over a door frame in your home. Once there, use it to practice dead hangs (simply gripping the bar and letting your body weight hang from your hands), as these will strengthen and tone your muscles and develop your posture. As your strength develops you can also start practicing pull-ups, too.
Calisthenics are forms of exercise that use your own body strength to perform movements that will significantly strengthen and tone your muscles. Try Pilates videos on YouTube, or simply practice holding a plank for a set amount of time each morning to begin developing your upper body as well as your core strength.

]]>There’s nothing worse than enjoying the sensation of whizzing along, only to get some dust or a fly in your eye. It’s uncomfortable and could be dangerous if you lose your vision or focus. Cycling glasses are a huge savior here, as they stop things going in your eyes and also protect them from wind. You can get clear ones for dull days or nighttime, or opt for some tinted ones for sun protection.
It often feels like bicycles aren’t designed with the human anatomy in mind, and as such most people experience the inevitable ‘saddle sores’ from the bike seat. Cycling shorts have padding in the places you need it, eradicating this common issue.
These simple additions to your bike ride will make such a huge difference. Your hands will be protected from getting sore from the pressure on the handlebars, and they’ll also offer some shelter from the wind on your delicate skin.
