2024 is shaping up to be the year of Sabrina Carpenter, and her new album Short n’ Sweet is the crowning jewel of her newfound success. It’s her most successful record to date, and it’s given us several songs that stirred quite a commotion on social media – including these five.
“Espresso”
If we had to pick a single song that defined this summer, it would be “Espresso”. It did a great job setting the stage for Short n’ Sweet months before this album came out.
“Please Please Please”
Carpenter created as much commotion – and snagged her first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart – with “Please Please Please”, largely thanks to its epic music video starring her boyfriend Barry Keoghan.
“Taste”
Speaking of amazing music videos, the one for “Taste” is a love letter to the 90s horror comedy Death Becomes Her and it stars none other than Jenna Ortega.
“Slim Pickins”
Carpenter is no stranger to causing quite a stir with her silly and ambiguous lyrics, and “Slim Pickins” left fans decoding the puzzling line “since the Lord forgot my awakening.”
“Coincidence”
Short n’ Sweet has given us several songs that are reportedly inspired by the love triangle between Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, and Camila Cabello, and none stirred more controversy than “Coincidence”.
