If you enjoy traveling light, your carry-on suitcase is probably your best friend – and you should put an effort into picking the right one. Carry-ons come in many different shapes and sizes, and here are a few key factors worth considering when looking for one that suits your needs.
Check the Dimensions
Different airlines have different rules in terms of the dimensions of the carry-on suitcase you can bring on board. You should do your research beforehand and make sure your suitcase is the right fit so you wouldn’t have to pay pricy baggage fees for breaking the rules down the line.
Like all suitcases, you can find carry-ons with soft-shell cases and hard-shell cases. Hard-shell cases are made out of plastic, and they’re much more durable, but they can be pretty heavy. Soft-shell cases made out of fabric are a better choice if you’re traveling light because they’re more flexible and don’t take up too much weight.
Wheels & Handles
Wheels and handles may be a small part of your carry-on suitcase, but their importance shouldn’t be underestimated. Make sure your carry-on has four wheels because they’re much easier to pull. It’s also important to buy a suitcase with high-quality handles because they’re often the first part of a carry-on to break.
