Essential oils come from certain plants and are used in a wide range of situations and are a common addition to aromatherapy practices. They have been used for many years and there are lots of accounts of the varied benefits that they can have in looking after one’s health and wellbeing. There are lots out there and each may have multiple uses, so here are some popular ones and what they’re commonly used for to get you started.
Lavender Oil
This wonderful-smelling oil is one of the best-known and is widely used. One of its most common uses is to help calm the mind and many people incorporate it into their sleep routine. If you find it hard to wind down in the evenings, try putting a few drops of lavender oil onto your pillow before getting into bed.
Tea Tree Oil
Another super popular one, this is mostly associated with antiseptic and antibacterial properties. It can be used to cleanse and soothe acne or to treat fungal infections such as fungal nails or athlete’s foot. You can find many tea tree oil products for the skin, or dilute some with a carrier oil to make your own.
Eucalyptus Oil
This oil has a lovely scent, and breathing it in can also have excellent benefits if you’re suffering from a blocked nose by helping to open your nasal passage. It’s also known for having anti-inflammatory properties. Try adding a few drops to a bowl of hot water and holding your head over this to breathe in the scent.
