As the Christmas period gears up, it’s a time of year where lots of alcohol is in many circles. If you don’t enjoy alcohol, or just fancy an alternative, it can be good to have some drinks that you will enjoy just as much. Here are three alcohol-free drinks that you’ll love.

Virgin Pina Colada

A virgin pina colada is a delicious and tangy ‘mocktail’ (alcohol-free cocktail) that does away with the rum and focuses on the strong pineapple flavor. To make one, you’ll need a cup of pineapple juice, 1/2 a cup of coconut cream, some crushed ice, pineapple slices, and optionally a Maraschino cherry. This drink is so sharp and tangy and may even be improved without the rum flavor.

Virgin Mojito

A mojito is a cocktail with rum, soda water, and a strong lime and mint flavor. A virgin mojito takes all the good flavors minus the rum. To make it you’ll need the juice of one lime, a handful of mint leaves, some ice, soda water, sugar, and some extra lime slices. This will give it a refreshing and sharp taste that will be just as, if not more, delicious than its rum-based version.

Berry Lemonade

This isn’t a mocktail per se, but it will certainly hit the spot if you’re looking for a sophisticated drink without alcohol. To make one, you’ll need a cup of mixed berries, two tablespoons of honey, the juice of two lemons, some sparkling water, ice, and some extra lemon slices and berries. This will be so drinkable that it might be worth making a big batch so that you can keep coming back for more!

If you are doing Secret Santa this year and haven’t got your present yet, there are some great options that everyone will love! Here are three great Secret Santa presents that you can buy on a budget.

Candles

Candles are a great winter gift as they provide a lovely light amidst the darkness of the short days. They can be used in the bath, or whilst you eat your dinner, or just to give a nice ambience. Scented candles are also loved by many as they work similarly to incense sticks in leaving a fresh aroma after they have been used.

Customized Mug

Everyone loves a hot drink, and what better way to enjoy your tea or coffee than in a mug that is designed especially for you? If you know the recipient well, you can tailor it to their style preferences or sense of humor, and it will be a special gift.

Gourmet Food Basket

If you get a food basket of high quality snacks and treats, it’s hard to go wrong. Little chocolates, biscuits, chutneys, and different flavors of tea are just some ideas you could include in your gourmet food basket. It’s a great way to go if you don’t know the recipient that will, but it’s also worth bearing in mind that they might have allergies or dietary preferences.

Christmas is a great time of the year, but the run-up to the actual day can be very stressful at times. Shopping for gifts and food is one of the worst parts of the season. While many people prefer to solely shop online, there’s still plenty of people who would rather go in person. Here are some tips to help this experience be slightly less stressful.

Plan Your Route Carefully

If you’re heading into town, try to think about each shop you need to go to and work out a rough route taking all of them in. There’s nothing worse than being in a busy shopping area trying to gather your thoughts and decide which direction you need to walk in. Having a specific route will avoid any stress or confusion.

Head to Shops Early in the Morning

It might still feel busy in town at this time, but it will be nothing in comparison to the afternoon. Avoid the intense crowds by taking advantage of the morning hours.

Come Up With a Budget

For each person you’re buying for, decide on a budget and be strict in sticking to it. This will help you work through your list more quickly and systematically, and avoid you getting distracted by things you spot that weren’t on your list originally.

Having a Christmas with your friends can be one of the highlights of student life. It can also, however, take up a lot of time and energy, and can leave some people feeling that they have put in most of the effort. Here are some examples of how to have a great student Christmas that everyone can enjoy.

Allocate Roles

A big source of tension at student Christmas dinners can be a feeling that the preparation and clearing up tasks have been distributed unevenly. If you want to try and get around this, agree beforehand that some people will buy groceries, whilst others can do vegetable chopping, and so forth. By dividing up the preparation process, everyone can get involved and not feel left out. If you also have a rough division of the clearing-up process, you can avoid some people feeling like they have done most of the heavy lifting to make your Christmas special.

Roughly Plan Your Evening

When it comes to student Christmases, there can be disagreement about how the night should unfold. Without going overboard and creating a rigid schedule, it can be useful to get a sense of what people would like to do before the day itself. Some people might prefer a quiet night in, perhaps playing board games or watching a film. Others might fancy a night out or a trip to the pub. Either way, if you have a rough sense of what different people want, you can hopefully avoid people feeling unhappy with how the night turned out.

Christmas is more than a month away, but it’s never too early to start planning how you’re going to decorate your home. Each year is bringing new holiday home décor trends our way and here are three that we’re going to be seeing everywhere this season.

Retro Ornaments

Remember those colorful retro ornaments from your grandma’s collection we all used to decorate our trees with back in the day? Well, it turns out they’re going stronger than ever with the rise of maximalism and you should definitely look for some ’50s-inspired ornaments this season.

Natural Vibes

Christmas decorations made with natural materials have been around for quite some time, and they’re not going anywhere. As more people try to embrace an eco-friendly approach to their holiday decorations, ornaments made with wood and dried fruits are experiencing a huge boom. And you can easily make them on your own!

Barbiecore Trend

The barbiecore trend took the fashion and design world by storm this year, and it’s now coming for your Christmas tree! If pink happens to be your favorite color, now’s a better time than ever to welcome some Barbiecore-inspired ornaments into your home or maybe even buy a pink Christmas tree.
